I'm very much a visual learner and i took things slow and checked and rechecked. I have templates for three different size stars now. I’m going to quickly go through it again but my point for making this video is so you can see how to set any block that you make on point. The pattern for the 6 point quilt was more than i wanted to pay so i made a template myself. You fuse rectangles to the interfacing, flip, stitch on the line, and repeat. Machine quilted on my home machine.

For this one i used edith sitka's (sp?) beginner 8 point star utube tutorial. All the blocks are set as straight rows. You might need to use newspaper opened all the way out so its big enough. The pattern for the 6 point quilt was more than i wanted to pay so i made a template myself.

Now the nine patch is an easy block. I'm very much a visual learner and i took things slow and checked and rechecked. If you use the mini 2&1/2 template to go with a charm pack, wouldn't a layer cake be the one to use with the charm pack template?.

Maybe simplistic, but if you have a 10 square to spare, give it a try and see. There are no diagonal rows of different sizes, no setting triangles and no corner blocks. I would think this would work with bigger paper, hers was about 8 inches. Ask on the forum.
